The Department of Veterans Affairs has set some strict guidelines for both the veteran and contractor to get these grants approved. A lot of times, neither the veteran or the contractor applying for the approval of these grants are aware of the complexities in the paperwork filing requirements and therefore the approval usually results in extensive delays.
This is determined on a case by case basis.
After the VA assigned case manager evaluates the veterans home and provides a written letter of recommendation using VA Form 1858. GEM Construction, Inc. will then use this form as a basis of its recommendations and design development drawings. After the submittal of the Plans and Descriptions of Materials, an approval is granted by the VA, afterwhich the work can start.
